| - I just came to the conference centre ballroom for a wedding reception this past weekend. I love this space! you have to go up the stairs to get to the main foyer, which is a nice huge area for a good size crowd to loiter, chat, go to the bar, and also allows for servers to weave through ppl easily when serving food. I love the huge open space and the ceiling is also very tall, so overall it looks very grand. The hor D'oeuvres were amazing. we had beef wellington, mini smoked salmon sandwich, crostini with brie and fresh fig (that was to die for).
The ballroom inside is amazing. I love how the lights decorate the room - makes it look very modern and sleek. The room is HUGE. lots of space and you can certainly fit a ton of tables.
The food, was actually really good. we had mushroom soup (delicious!!!), followed by a house salad, which was usual but the greens were very fresh. Main entree was chicken with scallopped potatoes and I don't normally gobble up mains at a wedding reception but I did!! that chicken, oh my gosh was SO MOIST. Dessert was a chocolate mousse cake, which was so good and I finished the whole thing too!
The bar was pretty good, i think just depends on what's available, this one was a limited availabiility but the bartenders overall were quite nice and friendly.
The wedding cake. OH MY GOD. the chefs at Hilton made the wedding cake for the bride and groom (of course it helps when the groom IS a chef at Hilton) but that cake, butterscotch, DELICIOUS. there was so much cake leftover that i took it to work and EVERYONE is raving about it! :)
Overall, I think this space is amazing and really worth ppl to consider if you want a big wedding, but budget is reasonable and like the look of a modern space/hotel. Good thing because I'm coming back to this place for 2 more weddings this year :) But definitely one of the most enjoyable wedding venues I've been to recently where it was good space and good food!
