  • I have lived in a Meyers Management apartment for 4 years. They are really big in PIttsburgh, I am wondering if they are deleting people's comments, surprising that I don't see too many comments for them. Their apartments are usually at good locations, but inside the apartments are cheap dirt. They never do professional cleaning, it was the most awful place i had to deal with in my life. When I moved in all the screens were torn apart and i had to beg them more than a month to get it done. FInally, I was miserably bitten by all sorts of random creatures, and I went to a doctor, got a prescription and told them I will sue them if they do not provide a healthy living place for me and then they showed up the next day at 7am. I did not live in this apartment for several years because I liked it a lot, I lived here because it was very costly and tiring to move and the location was good/convenient to everything (Ruth Gardens apartments). They are extremely inflexible with lease end/start dates, they will treat you as a piece of shit if you dare ask any favors even if you are someone who has rented from them for several years. You cannot get them do anything on the phone, they will take your number and never call back. In my building, I spent an entire year very uncomfortably because on the second floor there were 2 apartments infested with bedbugs and you have to share your laundry machines with those people. The management always lies about that bug stuff you only learn it from your neighbors if you can. You will be paranoid wondering if you will get those bedbugs yourself as well and they will basically tell you to get lost if you ask for information. My apartment was mostly overheated in winter, I was opening al the windows, but when the furnace is broken, they do not fix it until 10 people call, you can freeze in the mean time, they could not care less. And they also do not start the furnace until late in October which is already very cold in Pittsburgh. Also, since the apartments are extremely old, in most cases, the heating is not adjustable. I never had problems with hot water. After fighting with them for several years to get some of the maintanence work done, I returned them an apartment that is better than what they gave me, so I got my deposit fully back in less than a month after I moved out. The rent increases are reasonable, I was paying $750 in 2009 per month for a 1-bedroom apartment, it increased to $785, $795, and $805 in the following years.
