  • I have never in my life been so turned off by a salon, and to this day I am still shocked that my common sense didn't kick in and I actually endured a most-likely germ-infested pedicure here. I had a 3-Pedicure deal from a group coupon site (can't remember if I purchased Livingsocial or Groupon), and it took weeks just to get an appointment (seriously, don't offer as many coupons if you cannot keep up with scheduling). My appointment got rescheduled twice because the first two appointments were scheduled with techs that had quit. This should have been a sign that I didn't want to go here. The location? I personally didn't think it was so bad...I grew up in East L.A., so I've seen a lot worse. I went inside and it was SO HOT that you literally stuck to the chairs in the waiting area. There was no air conditioning, and in the summer, this is not good. I looked around while waiting to be greeted, and the place was just filthy. Empty drink cups scattered throughout on the stations, dirt everywhere, and used supplies like cotton swabs and such all over the floor. Another sign I should not have stayed. I waited thirty minutes after my scheduled appointment time just to be greeted by someone. I stood and every time I would see someone I'd say hello and try to get their attention. They'd always say they'd be right with me...but would then seemingly forget that there was a customer waiting. However, I felt like I didn't have any options. It was just a few hours before a flight out of town and I knew I wouldn't be able to get anywhere else before I left. When I finally was greeted, they escorted me back to the pedi area, and it...was....disgusting. You sat on the equivalent of a shoddy wooden bench. I seriously thought I was going to have splinters in my butt when I left. So uncomfortable. The girl had absolutely no idea what she was doing, and told me that they didn't have any hot water. She explained that the water would only get to warm and it would take about 15 minutes for it to get hot and she "didn't have time" to do this, so she dumped a bucket of ice cold water into the foot bath, splashing me in the process. Didn't even apologize, just handed me a dirty towel. She complained the whole time about how hot she was, and how she wanted to go home because her back hurt after working such a long day, which I found out had only been three hours as she complained more. She was fresh out of school, and this was her first job, which was obvious not only in her horrible technique and application, but also by her poor attitude and work ethic. She literally complained the entire time, while cutting two of my toes and letting them just bleed in the water and painting my nails like a toddler. No massage, nothing. She didn't even use polish remover on my old polish...she actually used a nail file to sand off the top layer of my toenails instead of removing the polish a normal way! Who the hell does that?! Then, as she was finishing up, she completely smudged my big toe while putting all her now-dirty tools right back into her box and wouldn't even fix it. I walked out with still-wet toes (since one was already wrecked), went to the airport, and made my first stop in DC a nail salon to fix the disaster on my toes. Needless to say, I never used my last two pedicures I paid for.
