| - I've lived at the Catalyst for almost 2 years and will not be renewing my lease. Initially, the building and amenities were really great, but as time has gone on things have started to become a bit run-down.
The Good: great location, decent staff (I do give a gold star to Domanique...her professionalism is superb), for the most part clean, safe (minus a few incidences out of the building's control), very few residence sounds for the most part, featured monthly artist in the entry-way, the views are the best in the city (in my opinion)
The Bad: Comparing the building to others in the city, the Catalyst really is behind the 8-ball on keeping up with their amenities. The pool is kind of an after thought and the "newly renovated" gym is the same old gym with an ugly paint job/color on the wall. I also have an issue with the doors of the building, which seem to always be broken so they don't shut/lock properly or at all. The elevators in the building are probably one of the worst I've ever had to deal with. While I live on the 20th floor, I'd rather walk the stairs some days, but that's not possible because you cannot enter a floor from the stairway (I don't understand why). The elevators constantly have an issue or are slow (I've waited almost 10 minutes for one and that isn't rare). They also make an awful noise if they're open longer than they should be and then proceed to close at a glacial pace while it screams the terrible sound. The people who live in the Catalyst are fine but lately the building has been using some apartments like hotel rooms and renting them by the day. This has caused some poor experiences with people who, while temporarily present, do not have the same respect for the building and the long-term residences. The parking situation is also super annoying because it's detached from the building. This creates a huge issue when traveling and when you have groceries, which is exacerbated when you mix those annoying elevators into the mix.
Despite all of this, I would suggest this location to some people who are looking to experience Uptown living. This is primarily due to the building being a little less expensive than other buildings in Uptown. If you don't mind spending $2-300 more, though, I would suggest going to The Element or The Vue where there are better communities and amenities.
