We have been taking our cats here for grooming only for over 5 years. We never had a problem until now. Our youngest cat had been groomed here twice last year. I sent a note with my husband asking them to handle him gently and begin with his tummy (a sanitary shave) and in the case that he objected, to please stop and we would not proceed. I sent a letter from our regular vet noting that he was also deathly allergic to the rabies vaccine and included both of our cats vaccination records. Several hours later I rec'd a call stating the cat was partially shaved and that they started at his head and shoulders and he would need to be sedated to continue with the grooming. I was also asked if I wanted him vaccinated with the rabies vaccine? Not a good call. I called my regular vet asap to ensure the sedative would be safe for him as he is a purebred cat. I was not informed that they would also have to wait until the end of the day when the vet was finished with his regular appointments in order to monitor the cat. After many hours of waiting, I called and I was told he was still in his box, approximately 6 hours total, waiting to be finished. We were called at close of business. After bringing him home, he immediately had diarrhea. Again, we called our vet who prescribed a drug to help stop it. After more than 3 weeks out and on our second prescription, I called Southwest Animal Hospital to let them know of this situation and ask if they could tell me why my cat was still so sick. I was treated very rudely by the vet tech. At no time was I asked if I wanted to speak to the groomer herself or the vet who administered the drug. Such poor customer service is something to take note of when you are entrusting these people with your pets.
