There is nothing terribly wrong with this motel (it really is not a hotel - think motor lodge/motel where the room doors exit to the outside) other than it is just a really cheap motel that gouges you in price. It is a 2 star at best and is far different than others in its class (like Comfort Inn and Baymont).
The workers are nice and they seem to be working hard to keep it in shape. But this is a old motel (probably built in the mid 70s-early 80s and most likely changed owners several times) and there is only so much a coat of paint can do.
My main issue is the horrible value. The nightly rate should be in the $60-70/night range; if it was that, I'd say you are getting what you paid for (but I wouldn't pay that and wouldn't stay there regardless). I had to pay $165/night (which was the AAA rate and booked weeks in advance) for a Saturday night stay in early August. For comparison, I stayed the previous weekend at the Hyatt on Wacker Drive in Chicago (right between Millennium Park and Chicago River) for $125/night.
But this also is Akron in general. This crappy little place was the "best deal" in all of Akron (unless I wanted to be more near Canton). There is no reason for all of Akron hotels/motels to be 20-30% higher than they should be. The fact that they all are is fishy.
Last time I "visited" Akron (my hometown), I stayed in Independence (Clarion for around $80/night) and drove the 20 miles over. That is what I will likely do from now on.
