An old friend invited me here one Thursday night to hang out and get some drinks. Apparently it was "Ladies' night" and drinks were $1. I arrived and paid $10 for being a non-local.
This was pretty strange for me as I don't know diddly squat about country music and line dancing. There were a couple recognizable dance hits that the crowd were line dancing to. I've never seen anything like it. This place was flannels and dykes galore. There's an ample amount of space near the bars if you're not on the dancefloor. Enough space for me to witness a fight break out 5 feet in front of me. I was already feeling good on my $1 vodka tonics that I didn't let anything bother me.
There were gogo girls (or whatever the country dancehall equivalent those girls are called) throughout and some of them looked so miserable as if they were being forced to dance against their wills. They looked like zombies who picked up dance moves from (youtube video: "tonetta grandma knows best" That's the best way I can describe what they looked like.
It was a different world for me, but it was definitely an experience. Even if I were a fan of country music and the two step, I'd probably still give this place the same rating.
