  • As part of my "2014 Arizona Health Food tour" I stopped into grabbagreen a couple months ago after being told about it from a friend. I thought the idea was cool, nothing that hasnt been done a thousand times before in California and a few times here in state, but it boasted a healthy alternative to fast food, and for that I had to give them credit. When I stepped inside in the later lunch hours the place was packed so I thought "well good for them, maybe this is the real deal." I was wrong, after ordering a Southwest Grain bowl recommended to me by the less than enthused girl at the counter, and a "Power Juice", I took a seat outside for lack of indoor seating and tight quarters just arent my thing. somewhere around ten minutes later my room temperature food and juice came out, as soon as I opened the box I was underwhelmed with the presentation, a bunch of mush beneath a layer of weird colored sauce. Presentation isnt everything, so I dug in. foul. The blend of textures wasnt very appealing, the sauce was a bit much, but something had to help mask the bland food and disgusting breast meat chicken(?) that was so dry in almost just crumbled in my mouth without having to chew. I swore at this moment I'd never eat at one of these establishments again, a ten dollar box of nothing that clearly gained its following by telling people that its gluten free and "mostly organic". All hope was not lost though, I still had my juice. I am person that juices at home, so upon taking the first sip of this juice something is wrong, its an 8 dollar apple juice with a hint of kale, spinach and lemon. The experience was overall pretty awful, but upon doing some research I learned there was a second location that wasnt as busy, I saw this as a chance to give it another go doing a little deeper research(keep your eyes peeled for my review of their other location) I know first hand that sometimes one restaurant location doesnt do the brand justice. I would love to see this place keep doing well, but I think eventually people will catch on that they are paying a lot for a less than spectacular health food experience that swears they are your only option.
