  • I met Sunni Almond, of Studio S Pilates, six years ago. I found her studio in a frantic search to get relief from a severe herniated disc in my neck, which physicians only recommended surgery for. I was in dire pain on a daily basis, falling down a rabbit hole of depression and pain. I simply started taking privates with her. I had no idea what the results would be. After a few weeks my pain was subsiding. I slowly became stronger than I had ever been, even before my injury occurred. These lessons had a tremendous domino effect, my new quality of life had no limits, it just got better over time and consistency. With Sunni's suggestion and support, I became a teacher myself. Back then she taught Contemporary Pilates, and I can tell you that her training has made me a better teacher than I ever imagined I would be! She taught me to give it 110%, everyday, every client, take it seriously, be safe, get people fit, make their lives better, get them moving again, don't turn anyone away, work around injuries, improve people's overall quality of life. She single-handedly taught me this was a "lifestyle" not just a "work out", exactly what she had done for me is what I dreamed for others. These lessons are few and far between in this industry these days with all of these franchises and "Pilates inspired" mini-gyms popping up everywhere. Her passion was contagious. Since my journey began with her, I now have my own studio, where I have been teaching contemporary Pilates, which could have only been accomplished with her encouragement and guidance. Since I have reconnected with her, I have followed her lead, learning "Going more Joe", a.k.a. Classical Pilates, which, in my opinion, is even more exciting than learning contemporary! The simple moves, the ones that Joe and Ramona started with, give me a "program" better than I ever experienced with contemporary! Without hesitation, I asked Sunni to hold workshops at my studio, teaching both the public and my clients Classical Pilates. She impresses every group she works with, on a personal level. She's an excellent presenter, immediately breaking the ice with her quick wit and humor. She is educational, gives exceptional queue's, constantly scanning the room for modifications. She goes at Classical with even more passion than she did Contemporary, leaving many of these people speechless and yearning for more. I now have clients asking for more and more, reaching out almost daily. I started with a Pilates teacher and I am so proud that she has evolved to be a staple in this community. She deserves all the accolades she gets, she is unlike any other, changing lives, saving lives, like mine. With sincere gratitude and respect, Thalia Kirchwehm Owner & Teacher Kore Pilates, Yoga and Burn at the Barre Korepilatesandyoga.com
