| - This is a review that is debated within my family. My review is 5 stars- here is why:
We've been to may places for pho in the area, but Pho An Hoa was the place we went for the "good stuff". We decided to try something new with Ben Thanh (it's right next door, so why not, right?).
We started with the #1 (if I remember correctly), which is the fried spring rolls. They are fantastic! We all certainly agreed about that. We got 2 orders (4) and still would have loved some more to take home.
My daughter and I got the iced coffee. The coffee was REALLY strong. I know it is normally very strong, but this was almost undrinkable without more water.
We all ordered the pho with just meatballs, and here is where the debate begins. My daughter and I absolutely, hands down, thought the broth was better here. My husband, on the other hand, said he prefers Pho An Hoa. I like the choice of sizes next door- and the limes over the lemons that are served here. Next door, chili oil is on the table, we had to ask for it here. It did seem fresher here (maybe made in-house?). My husband said it wasn't as spicy though. Fish sauce is also not on the table.
The service was also much better here at Ben Thanh. They actually checked on us and had a great attitude. The place seemed cleaner as well.
To sum it up, if it is just myself or if I'm with my daughter, THIS is where I will be getting my pho fix in the future.
