  • Never dealing with Petsmart again. They've really gone downhill in recent years. We used to trade with Petsmart quite often, especially due to their respect for abandoned animals and their customers.. Recently, it seems Petsmart has lost their heart, especially having a customer service focus. They used to walk the aisles and ask us if we need help. NO MORE. The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back was when we were ready to change the filters in our fish tank and could only find one package of Fluval filter foam blocks for the 305 model filter. (Two packages are required for a filter change). I spotted the same item but larger (only 2 inches taller) for a 405. The 405 was only $1 more. I asked if since they failed to stock properly, would they be willing to drop the 405 package by one dollar (and only one package, mind you) to the same price as the 305? "NO, I can't do that", said the person I tracked down to help. I replied " I want to talk to a manager!" Reply was-"I am the manager." WHAT HAPPENED TO EMPOWERING THE MANAGERS TO KEEP A CUSTOMER HAPPY? They offered to check other stores. As I thought about it, I became more and more enraged. They want me to spend over a dollar in gas and my time for one item that they clearly could substitute and would work perfectly. I left and found sufficient stock at Petco. I asked the cashier if they would have substituted and he said "my manager definitely would". By the way, I bought over $100.00 worth of filter replacement products. Later that day, my filter motor started failing so I ended up buying a new Fluval 306 (the upgraded model). You can bet I didn't buy it from Petsmart. Was Petsmart taken over by new ownership? Why are they so relentless to squeeze every dollar possible even to the point of causing customer inconvenience and dissatisfaction ? There are a lot of places to buy pet supplies. Did Petsmart forget they have competition? I suggest going to a competitor or buying online for your pet supplies. Petsmart no longer deserves to have customers with their new attitude.
