Thanks to yelp, we checked in and got free chips and salsa so it pays to be a user. We ordered off the happy hour menu with 2 minutes to spare. This gave us 8 a few minutes to decide what to order since we arrived 10 minutes before happy hour was over. My husband and I ordered the filet tacos and New Mexican Potstickers off the happy hour menu and the Blackened Scallops Special to share.
The scallops were cooked perfectly and the veggies/rice sides were good. The sauce on the scallops made the dish. The beef in the filet tacos was very tender and tasty and three tacos were served with a side of beans. The taco was dressed with guacamole on a very thick flour tortilla. The pot stickers were delicious with a slight teriyaki taste.
I had traded one of my filet tacos for a shrimp taco ordered by my mother-in-law and had a difficult time determining which was better. I loved both.
The server was busy, yet had time to chat and ensure everything was fine. And, we purchased a Restaurant Arizona card at Costco which discounted the meal by 30% (the $100 gift cards only cost $70 to purchase.)
The parking lot is a bit small but there is valet available. The parking lot is quite active so we found a spot by just waitng a few minutes. We did not have reservations but was immediately seated at one of ghe last available tables outside.
We sat near a water feature and the babbling water was soothing. There was a wood fireplace and occassional whiffs of smoke would drift by just enough to smell pleasant and not enough to be irritating. We were lucky because the weather was perfect.
I was a bit weary of the bat cave theme i had read about but it turned out to be fine. I would definitely go this restaurant again and now my husband wants to go to New Mexico to visit the real Carlabad Caverns.
