I recently stayed here specifically because i wanted to stay in Chinatown.
Nice, functional hotel. They make some economies that may or may not be important to you, but they aren't critical. The basic room is a bit small compared to pricier hotels. An iron and ironing board are not standard but if you ask for them, they'll provide them immediately. No soap dish built into the shower. No light in the entryway to the room.
Oh, yeah, the staff were friendly and very helpful. My refrigerator was not working properly and before I even returned to my room a maintenance guy was there to remove the old and install a new one. The service could not possibly be quicker.
The hard-wired high-speed internet was very fast. The lobby's wireless system reached my room but the signal was weak. I have an iPad so I connected an Airport Express to the Ethernet port to generate a local wireless spot in the room and the speed was impressive.
There's a small bar and massage room although i wasn't clear about their hours and did not inquire. They offer the usual cold continental breakfast. If that's a problem there's a great Chinese bakery two doors down Spadina.
I'll be back if I'm staying in the neighborhood.
