| - Needle and Pin proves Victorious when challenged with the Dreaded Double Date!!!
First off, the cocktails here, for me, are the stars of the show. They have an incredible Gin menu, and they definitely know how to use it. If you like a little kick with your libations I would highly recommend the Hell or High-water, it was fantastic.
The food was very good, but there is definitely better Indian cuisine in Pittsburgh, however, I don't know of any other Indian/British restaurants that have the ambiance that Needle and Pin has, so if you're craving Tikka Masala, but also want a craft cocktail than the N&P just might be your spot. The Scotch eggs are delicious, I really enjoyed the Chili paneer with naan, and the Lamb Lollipops were wonderful, although they were served with cold vermicelli and some flaky pastry that were unimpressive. Also, my girlfriend and I Love Gobi Manchurian, but this was probably our least favorite dish of the evening.
Lastly, the biggest flaw of this dining experience was how painfully slow it took to get our food. Our reservation was for 7 and we didn't leave until after 10. Luckily we were really enjoying each others company, but man that could have really sucked if we were with people we didn't like. The restaurant was relatively empty, and they have been open long enough that you'd think they'd have the kinks worked out.
To summarize, if you're really craving great Indian food, I would recommend somewhere more authentic like Tamarind in Green Tree. If you're looking for trendy with great cocktails, this place delivers. Don't go with people you dislike, because you might be here awhile.
