  • I've been to nearly every bike shop in the west end and this one is my least favorite. This place seems to be lacking the passionate and friendly bike specialists you find in other shops. I greatly prefer Urbane Cycle (on John and Queen) or if I can't make it that far east I go to Cycle Shoppe across the street from Bikes on Wheels, I've been here about 4-5 times and I've frequently found the staff to be unhelpful and on more than one occasion, condescending (one instance to a rookie who walked in with a mountain bike). Caveat: the mechanic I met who worked in the back was the total opposite, he was very helpful and knowledgable. The most recent occasion I went in to buy a bottom bracket, a guy at the front told me they had none in stock. He miss-measured my old one by 12mm (his coworker even double checked) and told me even the manufacturers didn't carry a size that big (well no wonder). 15min later I was at Urbane Cycle and their parts guy handed me a correctly sized one for a good price. Had similar experiences when I was shopping for a new wheels and another time getting repairs done after I got into an accident. If you're looking to just buy a complete bike then I'm sure they're fine, but there are way better shops in Toronto if you're looking for parts or a friendly knowledgable staff.
