After my horrible experience at Alchemy N' Ale I drove straight to Tamari to try and forget what just happened.
The bar was mostly empty and we had fantastic cocktails immediately. I apologize for not remembering the names but mine was a Mule-type drink with Root liquor instead of vodka. It had a half-lime garnish that was a root liquor floater. It was strong and tasted great, especially if you like rootbeer. My girlfriend had a greentea cocktail that contains egg whites. If only every place would offer egg white cocktails.
We got the Tamari roll which is expensive ($18), but is probably the best huge, specialty, Western sushi roll in the city. Its only competition is the Cuban roll at Seviche IMO. I was not worried about prices this night though; I needed therapy after the meal I just had.
The Chef de Cuisine, Micah, came over to the bar and remembered us from a tasting we did 3 months ago. He talked to us for 10-12 minutes about good restaurants in the region and some of his favorite places. I don't know about you, but I love when a chef will take time to talk to the customers.
Anyways, you can't go wrong at Tamari. It operates how a restaurant should.
