| - Old Montreal is a the spot for a long walk, sightseeing, taking photos, and purchasing those cheesy souvenirs.
The architecture is unlike anything I have seen before, the buildings and cobblestone streets had a very European feel and aesthetic. Even though I have never visited Europe, that was my first impression. A walk along the Old Port is relaxing as well.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes if you aren't accustomed to walking on cobblestone.
I saw a man standing in the fountain and taking the change people had thrown in. You just never know what you might see around here.
We had dinner while in Old Montreal, but I would suggest finding dinner elsewhere. Our dinner was just okay and very overpriced, as tourist areas tend to be.
We took a taxi to get here, but you may want to exit the taxi just before the streets of Old Montreal, because traffic gets quite heavy here. The restaurants and shops stay open quite late; I'd read somewhere that they close around 6:00 p.m., but that simply is not true.
As a tourist, visiting Old Montreal is worthy of about an hour to walk, wander, grab some souvenirs and snap some gorgeous photos. Allow more time if going inside the museums and cathedrals interest you.
