I saw an advertisement from DRL Outlet with a picture of a new Insinkerator hot water dispenser.
I went to their establishment and saw that they had new and used ones for the same price. The way they could tell the difference from new/used is that the used ones said "Used" on the box.
Before I made any purchase, I asked their employee to confirm that I am buying a new unit. I had no intention of buying a used one. The employee picked a unit and the box did not have the "Used" markings. She then opened the box with her knife and inspected the unit. She confirmed that the hot water dispenser was in fact new. I made the purchase based on that pretense. I brought the unit home and when I went to install it I found out the unit was in fact used. The water dispenser still had water in it from the previous owner of the unit and the water heater was all scratched up.
How long has the water in that dispenser been sitting there?
It could be weeks, months or even years?
Insinkerator does not sell their units filled with water. I think there is a definite health and safety concern.
Does DRL Outlet have a license to sell units filled with water?
From the smell of the water when it came out of the unit in my house.....I don't think so.
After I found out the unit I received was used, not new as stated by their employee, I promptly went to return it the following day.
The owner explained to me that their store policy states that they will not refund any money for anything purchased in the store and I bought the unit "as is" as stated on the receipt.
I explained to him the unit was used and I only purchased the unit based on the pretense that their employee inspected the unit before I purchased it and told me it was "new".
The owner refused to give me a refund and said it was store policy.
The owner found a "new" cheaper model of the Insinkerator Hot Water dispenser, exchanged the units and gave me a store credit.
I felt like they pulled the old," Bait and Switch" scam.
I explained to him that I just want my money back and do not want any credit at his store.
I mentioned how I felt I was being scammed. I made this purchase solely on the information received by his employee..its called justifiable Reliance.
He refused to give me a refund and threatened to kick me out or take the exchange and store credit.
I took the exchange under those pretenses against my will and filed this complaint with my credit card company.

Sir,
I tried to make an informed purchase as you saw from your video footage. I based my purchase on the integrity and honesty of your Company and employee inspecting the unit before I made a commitment to buy. Your employee misrepresented the truth and told me the unit was new, when in fact it was used.
Instead of changing a wrong to a right and having integrity...you sided with your store policy and forced me a to have a store credit for the difference of the product returned and the product purchased.
You left me no alternative. I either keep the used hot water drinking dispenser filled with some nasty water from the previous installation (from some time ago) or I exchange it for a cheaper model.
I had a terrible experience in your store. Your company and employee misrepresented your product that you are selling. I do not trust you or any of your employees based on that previous experience.

I went to install the hot water dispenser and I found out parts were missing to attach the dispenser to the sink. The owner handed me the box of the new unit that he personally inspected.
He told me I shouldn't have any problems that this is a new unit! I opened it up and it looked new, but I did not check to see if all of the parts were there. I assumed they would be since the owner handed me the exchange and he knew how bad I felt about the entire transaction...all I can say is...."Rookie move!" lol
"Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me."
Even though you may think you are getting a new unit and the box is sealed...it can be no further from the truth. You have to inspect the item and review the owners manual and confirm that all of the contents/parts in the box are actually there....I don't think the employees or owner will never tell you that!
I am now placed in a position where I have to spend extra money and purchase the parts from Insinkerator for a unit I never wanted. In addition, I also have to wait for the parts to arrive in the mail!
This business is bad news.....if you buy here you better be very sure of your purchase...there are no returns for a refund no matter what! On electrical items, you only have 5 days for an exchange or credit.... I wonder why???? LOL
