Greenbush is probably my favorite neighborhood establishment. Their mixed drinks are creative, and consistently feature seasonal local produce. Their beer and wine selection are well curated.
The pizza! The pizza is so good! The pasta! The salads! The desserts! I love every thing I have ever eaten here, and it's always difficult for me to choose what I want to eat, because I want it all. The pizza is a delicious thin crust oven-fired pizza. Fresh toppings, great balanced sauce. Yes, the pizza oven heats the entire restaurant up, and sitting at the end of the bar near the kitchen during summer is almost unbearable, but that just means it's super nice and toasty in the winter.
When I eat the pasta at greenbush, I feel like I'm actually experiencing part of the neighborhood's history. It may be mostly college students now, but the Greenbush neighborhood used to be home to Madison's Italian community. I am so thankful that Greenbush bar is still here to help maintain Madison's history.
Do yourself a favor and be sure to check out the specials board! Creative and never a disappointment. Also, save room for dessert.
