| - I came here early December with the fam - we had just seen the latest Bond movie and we wanted to end the night with some treats. I don't pass by this plaza often but when I do, Cha Me Cha is always busy. The Tuesday night we went was no exception. We waited about 10-15 minutes for seats to open up - service was nice enough but often a bit too quick.
We ordered a few things:
Milk tea with grass jelly - which was delicious and, for $5.99, a good price for the size it came in. I feel like it was a size large and it could easily be shared by two people.
We ordered shaved ice - Mango Tango, $7.99, which was more than enough for our party of four. For the most part, it's a sweet, cold, and yummy treat but I wish they gave us more ice cream rather than just mostly shaved ice. The creaminess of the ice cream is what gives the shaved ice more texture and flavour. The "popping bubbles" - those round, spherical bursts of flavour (mango, in our case) were a nice topping and definitely added more to taste with the shaved ice.
Taiwanese crispy chicken is a staple of a lot of bbt, Tauwanese/Chinese dessert cafes so we ordered some here for $5.99. They were good but, I guess my fam just loves ketchup, we had to dip them in it to add a bit of sweet to the crispy. The server was nice and accommodating about it too.
I ordered a Strawberry Paradise tea (regular $4.99; $2.49 with their 'Autumn Special') which was a bit tart and sweet - I don't think I'd order it again but that's down to personal preference. It came in a small pot with a small cup and it was more than enough for me throughout our night snack.
Finally, we also had their condensed milk toast which my mum loved - we all have a sweet tooth so this was one of our faves ($4.99).
Overall, Cha Me Cha is a good place to get Taiwanese desserts, tea, bbt, snacks, and meals. It's often busy in the afternoons and evenings and the service is all right. The value is pretty good for places that offer similar food fare. I don't know if I'd frequent the place but it's nice to know a place like it exists in Markham.
