I live right down the street from this place so I try to come in whenever I can. I usually sit at the sushi bar to interact w/ the chef's and it's quicker to get your food. I've been here numerous times, but my review stems from the last few times I have come to visit. Most recently my gf & I came in for dinner and the host was not at her station so we proceeded to head to the sushi bar where I typically sit. We sat down and the hostess came to us and asked if someone sat us. We said no due to no one being at the host stand. She said I need to seat you. I informed her, we are already seated and we would like to sit here. She told us the server who worked in that area wasn't accepting tables. We asked if the server working the whole bar? She went back to the stand to look and I followed. She went to go speak w/ another employee to ask if it was okay. I'm guessing the hostess was new since she didn't know what to do. When she came back, she took us back exactly to where we originally went to sit. Pretty frustrating to say the least. So now we are under the impression we have a server. Not really though. A woman came to our seats and provided us w/ a setup and took a drink order. After that, nothing. About 8 minutes went by and the server, our server, comes up and asks us what we wanted to eat. No apology, just took our order. Once we ordered our food, everything was business as usual.
I've had spotty service here since coming here. I come for the food and that's why I sit at the sushi bar because it cuts out the time the server has to take to grab the food and deliver it. The chef just hands it to you. The best option here is the AYCE because just about everything is up for grabs. Oh and if you don't know, which most don't since it's not on the menu, you can order pork belly. It comes in a serving of 4. Even regulars that come in don't know. You're welcome :)
