  • This review is about their "time share" aspect of what this is... Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me. I should have read my review from one of their 'time share deals' before; http://www.yelp.com/biz/sunrise-lodge-a-hilton-grand-vacations-hotel-park-city?hrid=Bbgc7isi58uqRlOxPF9kdA BACKSTORY: Last winter, Hilton called my wife, due to our Hilton rewards membership (or whatever links us), offering us a good deal on a weekend stay in Park City. Sounded great. My wife is not moron... she's the VP of a television network, she asked all of the important questions about kids, time involved for the 'presentation', etc. "Yeah, bring the kids to the presentation, it'll be fun." Long story short - bait and switch. The entire winter was "blacked out" until May and suddenly there all of these fees if we wanted to bring kids. She fought tooth and nail and we got our money back... and ended up going to Park City anyway, stayed at another great resort in that area. THIS TIME: Out of the blue, I was called one night by Hilton Vacations again, my wife was at work. They said who they were, offering a $200 stay in Vegas and I was like, "Nope!! I'm done, bye." The lady was actually super nice, asked why I wouldn't listen. I recapped the events (listed in my earlier Yelp review above, if you'd like to read). She seemed appalled at what happened before, got her supervisor on the line. She also was nice, apologized up and down about how the earlier experience. I said I appreciated that but I'm still declining. As a 'make good', she offered $150 (plus some tax, $166 total) for "three nights" at the Hilton Grand Vacations "right on the strip" and a $200 Hilton credit on a future stay. Damn it... that got my interest. I then was SUPER CLEAR... I couldn't have been more clear... I asked "are there blackout dates" and "are kids allowed?" and "there aren't any hidden fees or anything for the kids, right?" She laughed, basically like "No... just come whenever you want... super easy. Just book your stay within 45 days of this call, after you pay tonight." I mean, I was absolutely thorough with what I asked. So, today, May 26th, I just tried booking it (within my 45 days). I chose Labor Day, which is FOUR MONTHS AWAY. The first lady on the phone said there would be a $54 "weekend fee" ($50 plus tax). WEEKEND FEE!? And then she told me there's an $84 fee for kids (for a one bedroom upgrade)!!!!! I told her there's no way I'm paying that, that was never part of the deal. Then she got a major, major 'finger-snapping' attitude. I called her out on it, "Your attitude isn't acceptable right now." She snapped back, "I ain't got no attitude! YOU have the attitude!" I was done with that and asked for a Supervisor. That took about six minutes, I don't think I got a Supervisor though, I believe she said she's from the "Retention" department, but was better to deal with. I said if there are fees on top of the money I already paid, I want my money back. "Well, sir, we already waived refunded you one time for Park City." Um, yes... because it was FRAUDULENT, which is a harsh word -- but accurate. This time, she said she could "waive" the weekend fee, but not the kids 'upgrade' fee. (Waive a fee that I didn't know about?) I said, "Um, okay... so it'll just be my wife and myself then... of course, no kids." She later said the fees were in the email I received 'after' the phone call and when the salesperson quickly raced through the legal 'stuff', it was in there. If it was, then I call BS because when I ASKED specifically about the fees, she said there was NOTHING more to pay. (They can check the recorded call.) Get this though... they said there's "no availability" at the Hilton Grand Vacations...? Four months away? Really? Being a former journalist, I had to follow-up and I called this property, acting like I was just a guy looking for a room. Yeah, sure enough... there are rooms available. They're gonna to put us at the Trump Tower, which is hopefully comparable but, from a "business" standpoint... how does that make me want to buy a timeshare at a place where I'm NOT staying? How am I going to get a sense of "life" there? Makes ZERO sense. A two hour sales pitch isn't going to make me want to buy into a place that I'm only visiting for the mandatory "presentation." Anyway. That's two for two now, of "bait and switch." If it sounds too good to be be true - it is. They've broken our trust forever. We'll never stay with 'any' Hilton property, let alone buy into some timeshare. As I said in my other review... they blew it, we are the PRIME demographic for what they are selling... and they blew it by ticky-tack hidden fees.
