| - It was my first visit tonight. I called ahead to see if they had any openings, and lucky for me, they did. A hop-skip-jump to the Barber, and my already-too-long-hair was ready for its date with Hastings' floor.
The Barber, dressed in button-up plaid, was a gentleman. Hastings offers excellent decor (not something I normally look for in a Barber shop, but in this case I dig it) complete with a massive antique wooden vanity (new mirrors) from 1904. The magazines were classic Playboys, a few old Vice magazines, and an oddly out of place MMA men's magazine. (It's amazing how much material you can plow through while waiting for a 1/2hr for a haircut).
Despite the wait, the service was excellent, my hair looks very good, and the price was hardly expensive ($26+tip). It may end up replacing my normal barber shop (Anne's @ Queen & Pape) as Anne's offers some difficult hours that don't quite mesh with my schedule.
Once my hair is in serious disarray, I'll most likely return to Hastings for a trim. Perhaps complete with straight-razor shave.
