Every time I go to Ella's I think, "This is it! This is the time I'm going to get some really great food!" And every time I am wrong. I am not going to go into detail about the food I've had. I'm a vegetarian, so my menu choices are much slimmer than my meat eating counterparts. However, I've yet to have a meal at Ella's that I would deem "good." The whole things seems to me kind of like getting a hot lunch meal from school. And let's face it - the food is EXPENSIVE. Really expensive. I paid nine dollars for three small blintzes with some sour cream and applesauce that looks like baby food - I get it...it's applesauce, but I guess I was expecting something better than the "old standby." Every time we leave, I'm shocked at how much money we spent.
The good things about Ella's? The atmosphere. The carousel. The ice cream, which is also insanely overpriced, but for some reason it's ice cream so I'm okay with it. We had a server the last time who had a smile on her face the entire time and seemed to truly be enjoying her job. It's a fabulous place to bring people just for the experience, but from now on "the experience" for me is just going to include a dish of ice cream and a ride on the merry-go-round.
