| - Ah, the Iron Asylum. There are not enough good things one can say about this local gym. I've tried a couple of the big box gyms and a local establishment, but nothing has come close to the environment at IA.
The staff is incredibly friendly. Inside the gym, you get the feel that this place is all about power. It is not "bright", it is not "fancy", but it IS definitely Hard Core. You WILL get stronger training here...the only limitations are you.
The gym is complete with everything a strength athlete could want. Three squat racks, a Monolift, two deadlift platforms, a glute ham raise, a reverse hyper and all the conditioning sleds you could ask for. You want bars, they now have fat bars, Texas Power bars, regular bars, Safety Squat bar, Cambered bar, Cambered Spider bar...I could go on for a bit more. The point is, if you need it, they have it.
"What about Strongman implements?" you ask. Well, they have recently purchased quite a few bits of new Strongman toys with more to come. Yoke, Farmer's Walk handles, Wheelbarrow, tires in various weight ranges for flipping and soon, as I hear it told from the owner, Atlas Stones.
Locker rooms with showers (Big plus for me as it is a time saver), ample parking, plenty of dumbbells and a smattering of machines. They have also recently added a built squat machine for those who have issues loading a barbell onto their backs.
Iron Asylum is THE spot in Northeastern Ohio for training. No contracts, no hard sell. Just a $25 a month auto debit, a daily rate of $6 if you want to train with a friend, or out of towner. All they ask for if you decide it is not for you is five days notice.
Get on it. It is only going to keep improving as time goes on!
