| - There are times when you spend almost $20+ per person for a meal and think, "that was worth it."
Then there are times when you go to places like Serendipity. Sigh.
They had the name, they had the flare, they had the location... but they just did not have the food. With those prices, I think I could have gone to one of the restaurants opened by a celebrity chef and be more satisfied.
We ordered a burger, and it was so well done that I could have surely used it to play frisbee. We told the server and he promptly changed it. We asked for a medium burger, and the second attempt was well done also, but at least it wasn't AS dry. Hey burger chef, stop pressing the patties down with your spatula while they cook. Thanks.
The chicken sandwich was also dry, and the bread was hard. Inedible.
The best thing was probably the chili, but even that wasn't anything spectacular.
We got two frozen hot chocolates, which basically saved the meal. They weren't the best thing I've ever had (think of a chocolate slushie), but compared to everything else we had, it was awesome. We got the original and the amaretto almond. I personally like all the little almond pieces in the amaretto one better than the original.
I gave them an extra star because it was my husband's birthday and they gave him a little chocolate dessert thingy with a candle.
I don't see the frozen hot chocolate as something I'd always want, but if I ever do, I'll just order it at the outside takeout area (it's a few dollars cheaper, too!) and call it a day.
