| - I used to be a regular at The Mirage. Things have been downhill. First the dealers, mostly the males seem to be bitter (only mentioning due to a previous recent review---I hear ya brotha!). The real reason for this review was just simply a warning to all Mlife Platinum+ members. This is NOT a Platinum friendly hotel. I booked the room that morning and the lady on the phone put a note that I requested an upgraded room (i know the regular rooms don't have safes big enough for a laptop). At check-in I was put in a regular room, which the reason was because they were sold out---which means that in the few hours between my reservation and arriving, they gave it away. I was then told to come back the next day and be transferred to another room. I did that and was told that they didn't have it available. I didn't even bother to try for the next night because it would probably be the same thing and I got tired of talking to different people and going back and forth to the front desk. I ended up having to keep the 'do not disturb' sign on the door and refuse housekeeping service the whole stay. But be warned----I did have a very odd experience one stay a while back where something was wrong with my room so either the maintenance guy or the housekeeper entered my room with the 'do not disturb' sign on the door.
Oh and speaking of odd....I was rushing at checkout time, so I had to checkout on my TV at 10:59am. There was one charge. A $0.04 cent tip at one of their restaurants. What? Well I wasn't surprised to see that because one of the mlife attendants told me about it the other night when I asked about whether or not they can upgrade me to a room with a bigger safe. Anyways, they even admitted that it was a strange charge and probably a mistake. I was just surprised to see it still on my bill. OH well. I didn't feel like rushing out, running my errand that I had to do, then come back and try to clear up a 4 cent charge.
There's been a lot of work going on in the casino. New bars, and one about to open where the Revolution used to be, so there was lots of construction type of activity, noises, and one morning even a strong paint smell by the tables---which made me have to leave after losing half my chips (good thing maybe?) and take a nap.
Now for some good. A while back I went to the stack restaurant. Fantastic place for a date. Great food for sharing. Yes the prices are high, but then you don't look cheap, so at least a little bit of a win there. Just try to make it up on the casino floor.
