| - My wife and I got tickets to the High Roller as part of a package we bought, so we figured we would give it a shot. We probably wouldn't have ridden it if not for the packaged tickets, as it seemed like a glorified Ferris wheel to us. Seriously, we figure there are much more attractive and exciting things for us to spend our time doing in Vegas.
We went just after sunset on a weeknight. The boarding process was a little more complicated and disorganized than it should have been, but that was because there were tickets available for a full bar option or just the regular ride. Our tickets were for the regular ride, so I think it was a tad less complicated than the full bar option.
There weren't enough employees present to guide us through the process, but we were able to negotiate the ticketed passenger entry, the escalator, the "souvenir" photo spot, and the queue line. We found that if we just kept walking, we eventually ended up at the boarding area.
The ride was basically get on the pod, spend around 25 minutes rotating slowly around the wheel, watch a hokey video, and enjoy the view. Our pod had around 20 people in it and we had plenty of room to roam about the cabin. Everyone seemed to enjoy the ride.
We did enjoy the experience and view, although this is something we probably won't do again. We can say we've done it, enjoyed it, and it is something worth trying if you can get a good discount. A solid three stars.
