| - I almost feel bad for this review because I like the staff at this location, they have always been friendly and helpful. The problem isn't with the employees, but The Home Depot overall.
I have noticed lately that more often than not, I find myself leaving the store to go somewhere else because they simply don't have what I'm looking for, and I'm not looking for crazy things like an anti-matter converter assembly, or an unlicensed nuclear accelerator, I'm looking for a replacement bathroom sink in white, or a mason hammer, or that metal strip that goes between the carpet and the tile (called a transition), or a decent looking drawer pull.
Basically, the only time I feel confident I'll find what I'm looking for is if I go in for light bulbs.
I know, anyone with a brain in their head would say just check the website for the item, check the availability, and call the store to verify.
This is actually what drove me to write this review...
The website isn't entirely accurate. I know because I bought an item in the store yesterday, and went to look up the item on their website today, and it doesn't exist, not online or in the store. I checked name, general description, item number, etc. Each search takes me to a similar item, but not what I purchased. This means that maybe they have either the most convoluted and contemptuous search function in the history of retail, or the single item you really needed that one time, but was not listed on the website, could have very likely been sitting on a shelf in your local store, just collecting dust. Secondly, the store availability function is not very accurate either, but that's really not only a Home Depot issue, most retail websites will have a discrepancy, so they suggest you call.
when you call The Home Depot, You either luck out, or you sit on hold. and hold times can be DMV-esque. For me, it's easier just to go to the store and check if they have what you're looking for, and when they don't, you still might find some goodies that you didn't know you needed, and then head to Lowes, (or another favorite hardware store of your choosing).
I'm changing that order. The good thing is that if they don't have it at Lowes (or another favorite hardware store of your choosing), I can still peek around for goodies, and I won't have to worry about going to The Home Depot, because I already know they probably won't have what I'm looking for anyway.
So, for your basic lightbulb needs, check out The Home Depot! The folks who work there are pretty nice! If you are looking for electroluminescent wire, go somewhere else! They probably won't have that either, but you just might find that white oval sink you need to replace.
