| - Doing my best to not develop a Gelato habit, I would intentionally dash by this place with my head down whenever I was in the neighbourhood. Turns out what I thought was an ice cream counter in a closet is actually a spacious, elegant restaurant that serves grilled paninis, veg protein bowls, brunch, and slices of borek, which is layered phyllo pie with spinach and feta. (Toasted it is pretty tasty but I wasn't expecting a full layer of hot pepper flakes, so I'm not sure I'd get it again.) We also tried the lunch special, sweet pea & asparagus gnocchi. The gnocchi were very soft (a bit too soft?) but the sauce was lacking something. Salt? Citrus? Shaving the asparagus lent it an interesting texture and a gorgeous presentation, but robbed the veg of most of its flavour. Although I wasn't wowed by the food, I'll probably come back to try again, if only to shop for gourmet items from their mini pantry or to finally sample one of their exotic gelato flavours. (Not Bugs on Grass!) Although I just overheard the cashier tell someone that they don't allow mixing flavour scoops, so you'd better love what you choose.
