| - One word to describe the macarons: Meh. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of macarons and will spend the money necessary for a tiny piece of heaven in my mouth. Since I've heard a ton of good things about Coquette, I was ecstatic to finally try this place out! Imagine my surprise when the first highly anticipated bite of Coquette's macaron took me on a long road of "Meh".
Coquette really tries to go above and beyond with their macaron flavors and presentation. The few times I've been here, they had a variety of macarons ranging from mango lassi, drunken cherry, bubble gum, spearmint, and avocado. Of course, they also have the boring flavors of chocolate and vanilla. Being the adventurous Yelper that I am, I opted to try out the mango lassi, bubble gum, spearmint and avocado. YOLO!
Avocado: Bleh. There is absolutely NO flavor to this macaron. It felt like I was eating a piece of bread. Avocado is something that goes well with other things, so it would've been better if they added (oh I don't know...) soy sauce or pepper to it? I may be just pulling things out of no where, but it seems to fit their adventurous theme.
Bubblegum: Interesting concept, but no. It tastes really weird. As a little kid, you were taught to never swallow your gum. Well, eating this macaron made me feel like I was breaking all kinds of rules.
Spearmint: this is one of their specialty macarons, which cost 50 cents more. If you're into mint chocolate chip, then this is your macaron!
Mango lassi: YUM! This one is actually pretty good.
Overall, 2 stars for their macarons, but I'll add one more star for the service and decorations and another star for their delicious non-macaron desserts. I've tried to tart citron and le bonbon, both of which are delicious! :)
