| - It's hard to walk in here and not sing to yourself:
"A-wop-bom-a-loo-mop-a-lomp-bom-bom!"
Normally, I'm not the biggest fan of frozen soy treats. I know what you're thinking.
"But, OMG, you're a vegan. Soy is your default food. Why are you so picky? STFU and have some ham."
Still, after seeing all the enthusiastic tweets about Tutti Frutti's grand opening all over my feed over the last couple of weeks, and after browsing their website and seeing that they had not one, but four dairy-free options to choose from; I decided to see what all the fuss was about with my favorite vegan lady.
Tutti Frutti not only has four dairy-free options that are always readily available (that according to their twitter account changes between eight), but they are kept safely away from the dairy options and are easy to spot with their adorable signage. Since I am used to only being able to have one dairy-free option (if I'm lucky), I was thrilled to be able to walk up and serve myself not one - but two different flavors out of four options - soy latté, and peanut butter and banana. The other two dairy-free options that day were blueberry sorbet and lychee sorbet.
I was wavering between getting the soy latté and the lychee sorbet, but opted for the latté when I saw they had lychee jelly and boba pearls as topping options. They also had fresh fruit, crushed candy bars, cookies, nuts, and assorted syrups. The temptation to smother my cup in toppings was great, but I had to remind myself that there was a scale at the end that would determine my price, and anyway, I didn't want to miss out on the flavor of the actual star of the show itself: the soy yogurt. The price was reasonable, and despite a small SNAFU at the till (the debit machine reset itself when I tapped "yes" to tip), I was on my way to cozy frozen deliciousness.
It was busy for a Tuesday evening, but Tutti Frutti has extra seating downstairs. Perfect for catch-up conversation! I'm glad they're in town and that they're opening up another location closer to me. Which may thwart my fitness plans, but, hey! It's yogurt. That means it's lower in fat, right? ;)
