| - So how do you start off a vacation, have one of the baggage handlers be a complete smart a**. How? He comes up to your driver window aggressively and tells you, "This must be your first time driving". I ask, "What do you mean"? He states, "Because you were going too fast and you stopped in the crosswalk in the valet area". What a clown I thought, especially since the car is a rental, I take great care in driving in crowded areas and I was picking up my parents so I had to be careful and drive slow. What upset me was that the taxis cut me off (one almost clipped me on the way out of valet/pickup area), the taxis and limos bypassed me in speed through the valet/pickup area and the taxis and other cars literally parked in the crosswalk putting me to shame- they didn't care one bit and I am a couple of inches over and I am the A-Hole, okay... So I blew off this occurrence and thought...okay, maybe it will get better and one employee shouldn't spoil the vacation.
How to make things better- check in for the Tower Suites was 3:00 pm. My parents and me showed up at 3:30 pm and we stood in line for about twenty (20) minutes. When we got to the front finally, the lady we spoke to was pleasant with us but she kept fighting with their system and called her managers multiple times because our reservations through Southwest Vacations was for non smoking rooms but at the time they only had smoking. You could tell that the front desk staff were not happy- which was, well sad. After 30 minutes, multiple calls to management and awkward looks from other vacationers, mom and dad got to their room on 15th floor, and I got my room on the 32nd.
Mom and dad's room looked like the picture posted online, my room looked anything but- my room looked newer and renovated, but it had its issue. For my room, some jerk scribed their name into the window in my room, one of the lights did not work and was unplugged, there was a tear in the couch and stains on the hot tub tile. For the parents- the fridge did not work well and they needed that to work for their medications. What both rooms had in common- god awful, underpowered air conditioning- the rooms were cooking at all hours of the day. The couches in both rooms were springy and the beds were terrible. The folks had trouble with room service on multiple days- luckily, I did not have that issue and room service was on top of their job to their credit for me.
Throughout our time in the casino, interestingly enough - as much as mom and dad gambled, when we went to the Coffee Shop we were never informed that they could use their comps. When mom and dad went into the Gift Shop- guess what, you can't use the comps there. When checking out, there was no offer to use any comps that mom and dad had built up. So if you are going for a TI card, I have no idea how their program works and hopefully you can find out because we got nothing out of it.
Upon checking out, I brought my stuff over to mom and dad's room. We called for the bell desk so that our baggage could be held for a couple of hours. When the bellman came up, I remember him stating, "There will be another bellman, you won't see me again." He didn't leave until he got his tip ransom which was disappointing.
The kind of positive:
* The wifi was somewhat okay.
* Checkout via text message was good.
* The spa inside the room felt good- but it shut off every 10 minutes.
* Free parking but very limited Handicapped spots on the 3rd floor bridge. I learned just how important these spots are when you need them!
* A CVS located in the property
* The cost of the rooms were very competitive with other properties
I am disappointed. Years ago I stayed at TI and loved it, but never again after this experience. If the hotel got a makeover for the rooms, upgrade AC and bedding is a must, fix the terrible taxi/pickup cluster in the lobby/hotel area of the hotel and maybe made their comps program universal throughout the property- I think things would improve.
