| - Stopped in on Kentucky Derby Day for a little pasta and a cocktail. I really liked the lay-out of the restaurant. The vibe is definitely of a romantic (yes, I said romantic) but modern italian restaurant. The lighting is dim enough, but not dark. The music was not what you would expect (no italian love songs playing or smooth jazz but rather a modern set of pop music), but I have horrible taste in music anyway, so what do I really know. They have a huge bar area with ample seats at the bar and tables around it. They also have the mozzarella bar, which is the first I have ever seen.
The bartender serving us was really good, friendly and knowledgable. He made one of the better mint julep's I have ever had! The other staff there were extremely friendly and they provided top notch service.
The wine menu is pretty decent as well. The focus is on italian wines, but they have offerings from France, Califronia, Germany...etc. Dry wines, sparkling wines, sweet wines, you name it, they have it. The prices on the wine were within reason, with some 'hidden' values on the menu.
The food was excellent. My favorite thing was the Arancini. Good perfectly!! We also had the Buffalo, creamy and smoked ricotta from the mozzarella bar. Was quite good. I really loved the Pappardelle Bolognese and the better half really enjoyed Gnocchi. Everything was good perfectly and the prices were quite reasonable.
Overall, I had an extremely good experience here and would easily go back again whether for cocktails or for dinner.
