| - I moved into my newly built home less than 3 years ago. On April 24, 2018 my garage door opener stopped working and I contacted Sun City Garage Doors because their sticker was on my garage motor cover, and I assumed they were the original installers for our home builders. Their technician, Clayton, came out to replace my motor that day, and through my interaction with him he lead me to believe that they were the original installers. I trusted him, and he told me that our garage was built with a cheap product that would break after 2-3 years and that my entire torsion spring system would need to be replaced soon that would cost an additional $2,700.
I contacted our home builder to question them about this, but they informed us that Sun City Garage Doors was not their contracted installer. Instead it was Custom Hearth and Door. I had them send out a technician to check the system, and they said there was nothing wrong with the spring system. He also mentioned that Clayton may not have properly confirmed that the motor he replaced had indeed been broken as he never checked our circuit breaker, which we keep locked at all times. I then asked him how Sun City's sticker got there, and he said it is a common scam where companies go around newly built houses to stick their information on garage door setups to trick people like myself.
To make things worse, I checked around different stores such as Lowe's and Home Depot and found out I was charged over double the amount it normally costs to replace my garage door motor. All of these stores and my home builder Lennar think that i have been scammed. I have tried calling Sun City's manager about this 4-5 times and left messages but they have never heard from him since.
Please do not trust this company, I think they are scammers.
