  • I ordered an assorted box of baklawa and a couple pieces of Knefeh (a sweet cheese pastry) to go and am very happy with my order! My prior experience with ordering baklawa at other restaurants consisted of crumbling pastry soaked in syrup with barely any filling between the pastry. However, at Baklawa King there is an abundance of nuts in the pastry that's somehow moist and crunchy at the same time! Everything I ordered was fresh and tasted amazing. The one issue I have with this place is their pricing which can be somewhat misleading. If you're ordering take-out, then pricing is determined by weight - often around $25 per Kg of baklawa. The everyday customer probably won't be buying 1kg of Baklawa everytime unless they were buying them for an event. When I first asked for a small assorted box, the lady serving me immediately took a huge box and started piling in about 20 sweets before I could stop her. All those sweets would have cost me about $35 alone and there was no way I was going to eat all those sweets. They are tasty but really sweet, eating just one is more than enough for me (despite my huge sweet tooth). Even the somewhat savoury Knefeh is served with a serving of sugary syrup on the side! I think they should have a price according to different sized boxes which would make it more helpful to determine the cost of what you're buying. Another issue is that nothing is labelled. All the various types of baklawa, Basma, Mammouls and other sweets are just on display in the front together which can be daunting for someone unfamiliar with the cuisine. Just a heads up, It is cheaper if you order to go since they price it according to the weight whereas if you're dining there they charge per plate. The Knefeh I ordered cost me $5 a piece to go whereas eating it there cost $5.99. Other than that the staff is all very friendly and fast and the place is beautiful. It has a very nice atmosphere and is furnished really well. Definitely, a nice place to grab a tea/coffee and enjoy a nice sweet treat on a weekend. They do have a menu online but it seems they haven't updated their prices online. Overall I'm impressed with this place! :)
