| - It's seven hours after the end of the Mac King Show and my kids are still trying to dissect how Mac King engineered his magic tricks. I guess that's a good sign. Another good sign is that the kids, as well as grandparents, husband, and myself were continuously laughing during the show. It is very rare these days to find entertainment that appeals to multi generations, but the Mac King Show seems to fit the bill.
In a way, the Mac King Show is really old fashioned, low brow entertainment (notice I am not saying cheap). There are no fancy costumes, flashing lights, musical numbers, or sexy scantily clad girls. It is only Mac in his horrible worn out plaid suit and two worn out suitcases that hold various props. Most of the magic is not new and exciting. They include rope and card tricks, as well as disappearing acts. Without giving too much away though I will say that Mac does some tricks with goldfish and guinea pigs that will astound you!
What also makes this show so enjoyable is the comedy. Mac has a very goofy sense of humor. I do agree with other reviewers who said he does pepper the comedy with many sexual innuendos, but they are so subtle that they really go above the kids' heads. Many of the jokes, bits, and magic are repetitive, which actually makes them funnier as the show progresses.
I think what also makes this show even more enjoyable is the price. We got VIP tickets in advance and paid about $30 for each. I believe there are even better deals out there. There is even a deal on Yelp right now! Before going to Vegas, we knew we wanted to go to a show and investigated many different shows especially the magic shows. Most of the shows cost at least $130, not $30! Yes, the theater is in Harrah's, which is not the classiest hotel, the venue is a bit old & shabby. Even Mac King looks a bit worn out and shabby in his old oversized plaid suit (which I believe is key for sleight of hand tricks). Nevertheless, Mac King is a class act.....and the best entertainment value on the strip.
