  • I would prefer not to have to write a negative review, especially for hair coloring/cut which can be very subjective and personal; however, I have had such a bad experience I felt compelled to write about it. I was trying to find a salon in the Cleveland area that did the balayage technique for hair coloring. I really had a difficult time finding a salon, and then I came across Ichiban. I called and made an appointment for a cut and color. They scheduled me for later that day to have a cut and consultation on the color and then to come back then next night for that coloring. The cut was mediocre, but certainly not worth writing a negative review over, but at the consultation I explained to the colorist what I was looking for, showed her pictures, and she seemed to understand. The next night I went in for the color and left very disappointed. What I ended up getting was the exact opposite of what I had asked for (and by exact opposite I mean that I asked for color concentration at the tips of the hair and front, and I got concentration at the top). I decided to blow dry it to see the color, and when I saw what it looked like, I confronted the colorist and explained that it was not what I had wanted. She told me that I should try it out and that it was what she had wanted. So I left, extremely unhappy. Ultimately, what I got was a partial foil, after I made the appointment for a full balayage, told the colorist I wanted a full balayage at the consultation, and when asked the reason I chose Ichiban during the coloring, explained that it was the only salon that performed the technique. I gave it a week and then called back to get it taken care of. They scheduled a re-do for a week later. I went to the appointment, explained again what I wanted while using more pictures. I spent another hour and a half getting colored, and could not even tell the difference. It looked exactly the same! Still nothing like the pictures or description (but at least this time she used the proper technique). I again explained that I wasn't satisfied. She said she liked it. I do not. I have spent a lot of money and a lot of time at this salon, and I have not gotten anything close to what I wanted. I was pretty explicit about my expectations, and brought realistic pictures of what I desired, and yet, I still couldn't get what I asked for. I will never go back to this salon. I appreciate that they didn't charge me for the re-do, but as it still was not remotely close to what I wanted, and I had to spend so much time there, it was worthless (and yes I tipped every time although I was never satisfied).
