| - I had really wanted to love this restaurant, as it's almost across the street from me and it made Toronto Life's 2018 list of best restaurants.
However, it was disappointingly just ok.
Service - very friendly and eager, but they forgot my appetizer and simply brought our mains out. Nevertheless, they were apologetic and genuinely wanted feedback, on our food and drinks.
Food - we both ordered the well-reviewed burger. It had the promised "smokey flavour", from the bacon and cheese. Unfortunately, it had been overcooked and was dry & lacking flavour. The squash ricotta pancakes had a nice taste, but were also dry.
Atmosphere - nice, modern, warm, and bright - even on a cloudy spring day.
This place definitely has potential and - because it's so close to me - I'll try it one more time. However, I'm not sure if it's worth driving to. The food we had was similar to a Jack Astor's, even though the menu promises something way more.
