We were staying in the Palazzo and figured we just start here with some drinks and apps. We were seated in the lounge area. Nice selection of seats and couches. Our server was a tall Asian woman and very nice. Of course my friend Dave couldn't stop staring. She could be a super model! Ordered a Jameson ginger and it was good pour.
Steve and Tom ordered food for the table, and while the other night we were on the hunt for the infamous $1.99 shrimp cocktail on Fremont Street, there was a shrimp cocktail on the menu, so Dave and I ordered it. Imagine our surprise....
Dave: Excuse me, we ordered two
Other server: Yes, that's two...it's by the piece
Holey Shmoley! Shrimp cocktail....singular....$8 for a single shrimp...and not a prawn or a tiger shrimp....LOL! The Wedge salad was ok as was the Caesar...but for those prices, I expected something spectacular! Or maybe gold plated China to eat off of...LOL! The best thing was the Baked Clams Oreganato...very good flavor! I also thought the bread was premade and was just in a warmer to be grabbed and set on a plate.
The ambiance is very nice! The story behind the faucets above was interesting, and the deejay played some great tunes from the past and present. However, there wasn't that "WOW" factor with the food which is a shame, considering how beautiful the hotel is. If it wasn't for our server, I probably would've given two stars.
