Every summer for the last 10 years (or more) we've discussed having solar screens installed on the west side of our house. We have very large windows on the west side and the afternoon sun would heat up the upstairs dramatically. We finally called around and got a few bids. Atomic was the first contractor to come out, measure, and give us a price. I think it was the owner (Tom?) that came out. He was super friendly and explained to my wife what type of product they use how the screens would be installed.
We had them installed about 2 weeks ago and I'm blown away by the difference. We had 90% screen installed on the upstairs windows and 80% on the downstairs. The upstairs is no longer hot. All that radiant heat from the large windows is completely gone. I hoped the screens would make even a minor difference but they completely exceeded my expectations. The quality of the screens is also very good. The frames are very sturdy looking and fit precisely.
My only regret is not having screens installed sooner. From now on, solar screens will be the first thing I have installed on a new home.
