  • Dr. Harari at this group practice saw me twice. I poured my heart out to him about how difficult it has been to receive wise and proper treatment of my hypothyroid symptoms here in Phoenix (I moved here two years ago from California). He seemed disinterested in my symptoms at both appointments and kept checking the time, as if he was working on an assembly line and trying to reach a quota . At the first appointment he prescribed too much thyroid medication (the equivalent of 108 mcg levothyroxine) which, of course, caused hyperthyroid symptoms and was reflected in subsequent labs that were out of range. So, at the next appointment, he prescribed the equivalent of 75 mcg levothyroxine, a HUGE drop in dosage, which, of course, resulted in severe hypothyroid symptoms after a couple weeks. After much research, I learned that physicians specializing in functional medicine often are better at managing thyroid symptoms, so I finally found one in Scottsdale that accepts both Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield (Angela O'Neil, MD). I saw her a couple days ago and left her office convinced that, together (she will definitely be paying attention to my input regarding symptoms), we will get my health and productivity back. It is telling that, when I called to cancel my next appointment with Dr. Harari, his staff couldn't find the appointment on his schedule. Eventually the staff discovered that there were two different charts for me, and only one of them showed the upcoming appointment. This kind of clerical incompetence should not take place in a doctor's office!
