| - I am surprised "they" are even in business. They talk a lot about "codes" with insurance billing. "They" being all of them, are deceitful and you will be responsible in the end for the twist in information the office will give you. BEWARE!! It is true the it IS your ultimate responsibility in the end to confirm insurance coverage. We all know the common practice and the industry standard is for the office to verify coverage and the amount owed, even as a courtesy. But, what this office does with the coding, billing, appointment scheduling etc. is borderline fraudulent. I was in the office with my wife during the appointment and I was not impressed with anyone in this place. Without mentioning the common opinion of Cox's bed side manner and pompous attitude, I will confirm all other opinions of his staff as the eye rolling, gum smacking assistants with attitude. But, what really sent up the red flag was the talk of codes with his "scribe" and the way to bill it. Then the best part for me was his advice on the medicine he wanted her to take for her foot problem. It was a combination 800mg ibuprofen, and an antacid. I was very curious about this combination and its efficacy so I questioned him on it. He looked at me as if I was confusing him and said, "I am a licensed podiatrist" or something to that affect and went on to talk to my wife while ignoring me. It was comical! Ultimately, this special pain and anti-inflammation med of Ibuprofen and calcium carbonate can only be bought somewhere in the East valley. RED FLAG for me. I was amused by the whole experience until we were charged a $55 dollar cancellation fee. We cancelled because after verifying with our insurance the information Cox's office gave us, it was found that the service would be done first, then billed, then approved. What the office said was we would be responsible for 10%. They failed to mention the "after review" part. We would have been given a $500 dollar invoice. This is unethical, deceiving, and not common practice of any respectable medical staff. I will pay the money. It was worth it to help any one else not have to deal with this unprofessional, unethical, unorganized, ridiculous example of our modern health care providers. Please take my advice and not the advice of Cox's paid "reviews". I gave this office the chance by calling them first and explaining our situation and the miscommunication on their part. I was told my wife signed a paper accepting all financial responsibility. Yes she did, we all do when we get medical care. The difference is most aren't out to scam the patient or the insurance company.
