| - So much happier with today's results at this Via Linda Francis & Sons location than I was at the Kyrene location yesterday!
I came in for a Groupon Ultimate Wash** (VIP+ triple foam polish, interior dressing, underbody wash), but I also was interested in getting interior/exterior detail work on Mom's car. She's wished to have the interior vacuumed and seats, mats, & floor shampooed for the past year, or two, but we didn't know of a cool shop to go to, and no one we knew could personally recommend a place. Decided to go ahead and try F&S's Ultimate Wash offers on Groupon. As I've mentioned, yesterday's visit at Kyrene's was very disappointing (Ultimate Wash and an offer to shampoo out a stain on the floor behind the driver's seat), so I was very wary of what's to enfold at today's visit.
After discussing my options with salesperson Darren, I was promised the Complete Interior Detail (orig. $120), car wash (I later found it wasn't UW, but VIP-- cream conditioner, exterior dressing, rain-x), the removal of blue paint scratches near one of the tail lights, a minimalization of scratches, and the polishing of headlight casings to make them shine like new. I asked how long of a wait and was told an hour to an hour and a half. I headed over to the lobby at 1:35 pm, and after a few seconds, I decided to head back over to the car to retrieve Mom's collection of religious hanging amulets and a wood-beaded rosary from the car, in case they get entangled in hands wielded with cleaning cloths and cause further damage to the rear-view mirror. One of the attendants met me at the door and asked for the car key. Since said attendant had already started vacuuming while Darren and I were negotiating, I am keeping the start time at 1:35 pm.
FYI, I was the only one at the lobby, save for the female cashier at the desk, and a young man, who looked like an F&S salesperson, on his phone at one of the desks near a wall. There were three cars being cleaned (after getting washes) at the station I pulled up at. (There are two stations, besides the two-car garage where Mom's car eventually ended up at for most of the visit.) I took a photo of the massage chair at the lobby, and above this chair is the TV, in case you wanted to know about such things. All you need to know is that this place makes a LOT of money to be able to offer its clientele a massage- I took this as a sign that the service would be much better here than that I found at the Kyrene location.
Left the lobby after about fifteen minutes as I found it too noisy in there, with the TV on and the increasing number of clients coming in to pay. I inquired about sitting areas outside and was told there were benches outside a set of doors, and also a round table and benches across the pave way. I saw A LOT of cars come and go as the attendants made their way from the car wash area to the cleaning stations. Many of these cars are higher-end cars, not surprising given the area this F&S is located in, and I had the feeling that my car wasn't getting as high a level of attention as these other cars were. Throughout the course of my wait, I stood up and searched for my car to see the progress about three times...
I paid the ticket at 3:46 pm (two hours and eleven minutes later), after I'd looked over the work done to the car and pointed out a few areas that needed extra attention. (Specifically the blue paint marks, the door scratches, the "eaves" of the trunk door where leaves and dust collect, the carpet areas, and the passenger seat.) After taking care of the ticket, I showed the ticket to the attendant to confirm that this was my car, and as he proceeded to wipe off the chalk-pen mark tagging the car to the receipt, I looked over the hood of the car and noticed a few dirty spots, so I tipped him accordingly. I forgot to check the headlight casings to see if they were crystal-clear. I will add a note below after I check it out later***. Again checked the stained area on the passenger chair when I arrived at home and noticed that a tiny faded spot remained- I'm hoping this will fade out when seat has fully dried. Am happy that I didn't over-tip, seeing as there were areas that weren't cleaned, but I think Mom will glad of the results. This is one of my gifts to her for Christmas! :)
While I wish that I wouldn't have to check for missed spots, I think it's good to be able to inspect the work done. I hope I'm able to increase my rating to four, or higher in the next few weeks!
**UWs orig. costs $28. Groupon deal is 3 vouchers/$44. Receipts allow guests to return for a comp Works wash within a week.
***The headlight casings are almost like-new. There were a few spots that were still hazy from scratches.
p.s. I chose cinnamon, but car smells of cleaner, and the passenger seat still has stains- before they were defined spots, now they are just spread out. Also, the inner sides of front seats weren't wiped clean.
