| - My friend and I hit up the Mandalay Bay location on a recent Saturday about 2 p.m. No wait at the register as the pleasant staff explained the pkg options and we made our choices.
We were brought to the locker area and put our possessions in a locker. I kept some cash out for the bartender and our drink cards. I already knew no phones, no taking your own pictures rule so that wasn't a surprise.
From there it was to the coats to be fitted, and I was very impressed with their condition. Then we posed for a series of pictures against a green screen at the direction of the staff. It seemed silly, but was turned into a complimentary gif they text to you that makes it look like you're running from a polar bear. It's a really cute gif and has brought more than one grin to my face! So my advice is just get in the spirit and have fun with it! (:
We were then each given a pair of what seemed like new gloves, and while putting them on the rules were explained. The staff worker then opened the big freezer door, and I swear it was like we were transported. It was comfortable in size I thought, and was so pretty! Everything glistened! I was taken aback more than I expected at how pretty it was.
It was actually more crowded inside than I thought it would be at that hour, but was a nice busy. We went to the bar to get our drinks in our ice glasses, picked an area to sit, and waited for the photographer to return. It took longer than I thought it would, I guess they time it somewhat to the flow of people as the customers cycle through. Once there though she was more than obliging with taking exactly the picture poses I had been deciding on in my head while I waited.
We both really enjoyed our drinks. The bartender did not skimp on the shots and having it stay super cold in an ice glass was great! The glass is quite thick, I'd say a good quarter inch. My glass ended up crashing to the floor when I got up and my parka knocked it off the coaster. Thankfully it was empty and I wasn't having another, because you only get one glass. It broke in two and it was easy to pick up the pieces. It was kind of sad when I heard my novelty shatter though!
We lasted about an hour inside. The bar was like heaven for us, being two 50 year old women who spend far too much time wishing we are somewhere colder lol
As soon as we left, the rush of warm air hit me and It was an instant shot back to reality.
We then returned the gear and were lead to the photo purchasing area. I'd done research and knew what I was getting into. My friend and I chose a pkg, split the cost, split the printed photos, and each got them electronically via email. They were sent to me and I forwarded them to her. You can reprint them, post them, crop them, do whatever you want. You buy the rights for what I feel is a very fair price.
The whole experience was very organized, the workers were very polite and patient, and we had a great time. It will be a new Vegas tradition when we go on our yearly trip to Vegas, and we can't wait to try the Venetian location!
