I consider myself a bit of a coffee snob (you can make your own opinion if that is good or bad thing!). The owner/manager Stuart makes a decent "flat white" although admits himself that he "makes everything the same" - a sin in my eyes (minus dreadful lattes etc). He makes a great americano and is a great fella. Other staff I have encountered unfortunately claim to be able to make a flat white but are actually clueless (a major pet hate of mine). I have revisited many many times and anticipate a poorly made espresso based drink when Stuart is not there - I am never proven wrong sadly. The last barista actually threw my espresso in the cup and poured boiling water into the cup, ruining any crema and flavour.
Beans themselves are well roasted fairly consistent and tasty, better than the chains around. I'm not a big one for cakes and pastries, but they do have a tasty collection I must say! A minor complaint is it's a tad expensive, but that does not bother me too much when the coffee is decent.
Stuart if you are reading, sort your staff out and train them - you are/were an award winning barista so train your staff. Overally im sad to say in my eyes at least this place has gone downhill dramatically. I used to give this 4*s!
