  • When you think of going to get a massage, you think relaxation, calm, serenity.....well, since visiting Massage Envy I have had nothing but a headache. Let me start at the way beginning. My mother bought my sisters and I gift cards for massage envy for Christmas so we could each get a massage. We decided to all go together, along with my mom so we could make it a girls night. All seemed well so far, as they were able to accommodate all of us at the same time (4 of us). Right after the massage session ended was where the trouble began. First of all, my mom says she specifically asked when purchasing the gift cards for an amount that would pay for a massage. We each only had $50 on our gift cards which technically did not cover the cost of the $55 massage. Ok fine, misunderstanding. Then, as we were all relaxed and obviously vulnerable I was pressured into signing a contract for monthly services. Granted, I understand that it was my decision, but I feel that the presentation was very misleading- not telling me until after all my paperwork is complete and printed out that I am committing to a 12 month contract, even after I started to ask about this- I was told, "yes-I will be going over that with you in just a moment". I reluctantly signed because by this point, the pressure is on and we are all trying to pay and get out of there. Needless to say, I was told I had a 3 day grace period, so after thinking and talking with my husband I realize for sure I don't want to keep the contract. I went in person and explained my situation to Erica who was very polite and promised my contract was cancelled, and I would not be charged. She handed me a cancellation letter confirming as much. Fast forward to today and my credit card has indeed been charged. I called and spoke with Erica who claims she has never seen this happen before ( hard to believe now after reading some of the reviews here) and that she will send me a screen shot showing she is indeed making sure the account is cancelled and the card is being refunded. I get home from work, check my email, and the email is not sent. I call and Erica is not in. I will be calling back in the morning, but this is very frustrating, annoying, and nerve wracking wondering how long am I going to be wondering if my card will be randomly charged. Nothing about this process has been right since the beginning. Needless to say, I will never recommend Massage Envy to anyone-in fact I will warn against it. For the price, I would rather go to a real spa, not a sales pitch.
