| - I first saw Dr. Igor Yusupov in September 2015 at the 9250 N. 3rd Street Phoenix address after seeing TWO orthopedic surgeons for a back surgery. The receptionist and all the office staff were super kind. I scheduled my back surgery with my orthopedic surgeon for August, 2015 the surgery is called an "anterior lumbar interbody fusion with bone graft and pedicle screws", the surgery would take 4-5 hours, 3-4 days in the hospital, and minimum 2-3 weeks in an assisted care facility- since I live with my son who works 7 days a week and not able to care for me. By this time I had 4 MRI's, one cat scan and two x-rays on my back and the reports to go with each procedure to show any doctor I saw about my back. My primary care doctor (at that time - I have since changed primary care doctors) suggested I have a neurosurgeon perform my back surgery so he referred several. One didn't take my insurance, another would do it at a discount price because he didn't take my insurance and I could make monthly payments, another (Barrows) said I needed to go to a pain specialist first and get the epidurals, injections, etc (all of which I have had in the past and didn't work), so I did my own research and found Dr. Yusupov. In the meantime I cancelled the August surgery with the orthopedic surgeon and saw Dr. Yusupov. He was so charming, told me I did NOT need to have all this done, that he could take care of my entire back problem with a one hour, out-patient surgery. Hallelujah I thought, an answer to prayer. Of course I had it done in December, 2015, came home in excruciating pain (and I have a high pain threshold) and was in bed for 3 full days, hardly able to walk. Upon going to the follow-up appointment in January 2016 at his new office in Scottsdale, his PA told me that the SAME PAIN I HAD BEFORE THE SURGERY WAS ONLY THE MUSCLE THE DOCTOR HAD CUT (this is a total fabrication) and that it would heal in about 3 months and wanted me to go to PT. WHAT A CROCK! Muscle cutting pain! And, the office staff was not the same and his PA was very unkind and not at all knowledgeable. Well, I went to PT for two sessions where they could do nothing to alleviate the pain, it hurt more by the time I left. Called Dr. Yusupov's office and they scheduled another MRI for February, 2016. I went to see Dr. Yusupov on March 11, 2016 for a follow-up on the MRI and he said I needed back surgery! WHAT A SURPRISE -----HE SAID THAT IT WOULD ONLY LAST A YEAR AND THEN I WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY UPPER BACK AND SAID NOT TO GET THE BACK SURGERY BUT THAT I NEED TO SEE A PAIN SPECIALIST - SO HE REFERRED ME TO A PAIN SPECIALIST! Of course, I did NOT see a pain specialist I stayed home, could not walk for more than 5 minutes now and could not stand for more than 10 minutes - THE SAME PROBLEMS I HAD BEFORE MY SURGERY WITH DR YUSUPOF IN DECEMBER 2015.
Now, I have finally gotten over the fact that Dr. Yusupof duped me and the insurance company because he did nothing wrong medically - just made me go through a surgery that WAS NOT NECESSARY AND THAT HE COULD NOT FIX. He just sold me a bill of goods and I was totally duped. It's taken me all this time to suffer with my back because of what he said to me and I was afraid to have a back surgery - but I'm suffering so much more and it's gotten worse that I decided to look into having it done.
I now am having another orthopedic surgeon perform my back surgery in September, 2017 and he is only going through the lumbar region but it's still going to take 3 hours, 3-4 days in hospital, 2-3 weeks in an assisted living facility. My orthopedic surgeon was SHOCKED to hear what Dr. Yusupov told me and by what he did after looking at Dr. Yusupov's operation report. He said that Dr. Yusupov basically did nothing but "shave off a bone spur".
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL!
