  • I was given a few free nights at this casino because I had a movie showing in the Film Festival a couple years ago. Over-All the film festival was a great experience and the whole trip was a lot of fun. More than a little bit of this was due to this great casino. I have stayed in a number of Las Vegas strip casinos and off strip casinos. This casino is relatively small and quaint but don't think that this place will let you down. My only issues with this place were with the room itself. I am sure I was given one of the least expensive rooms. The bathroom had a small sink and counter area and the shower was very basic. I also would have loved to have had a room facing the lake. All this being said, beggars can't be choosers. It was free after all. Let me tell you why I love this place. Live band (every night?), very close to Hoover Damn and lake Mead, old classic style slot machines that dispense actual coins! (ching ching ching!) Also my favorite games, Craps and Roulette - With 25 cent chips and $1 minimum bets!!! I can walk up with a $20 and play like a high roller. The whiskey selection was very small but when the drinks are free it is hard to complain. Now for the best part... the food. They have a very affordable buffet and they have some killer late night meal deals. On the last night of my stay I was having such a great time and I was on such a high from the excitement of the film fest that I wandered down to gamble away the last 20 in my wallet. I ended up running into another director from the festival at the roulette table and I stretched that $20 into a 3 hour gaming experience. Near the end of my stack of chips and after losing track of how many free drinks I had finished, I asked for 1 more whiskey and coke and I decided to get up and save my last few dollars. I tipped the waitress and the dealer, (do you call them a dealer if they are not really dealing cards?) and then I walked over to the food area. I stared at the sign for at least 5 minutes in disbelief. There was a steak and egg breakfast for something cheap like $6. There was a pancake or waffle or something breakfast for about $3. And then down at the bottom there was a breakfast for $1!!! I only had a dollar and a quarter in my pocket so I thought it best to ask some questions before venturing forward. I asked the hostess if there was a catch. She said the meal costs 99 cents + tax. (AH HA!) I recall that in my inebriated state I asked if the tax was the catch. She smiled and said that the meal will cost me one dollar and 7 cents. I said lead the way. What followed was a delightful 2am breakfast consisting of two eggs, two slices of toast, two pieces of bacon, and hash browns with a water and my whiskey to wash it down. I paid $1 and 7 cents and had 18 cents left over for a tip. (I think that's about 17%, not bad) Great place I will definitely go back if I go to the festival again.
