Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is THE premier destination for outdoors enthusiasts in Southern Nevada. If you've only got a couple hours, you can drive the 13 mile loop around the park. Make sure to stop & check out the rock climbers at the Calico turnoffs! There are several options if you've got a day or 2 to spare. The rock climbing is some of the best in the country!! If you're a hiker, this park is a wonderland of options! There are short hikes for the casual hiker, or day-long strenuous hikes to some of the beautiful mountain peaks for the adventurous! Stop in at the newly renovated visitor center for hike descriptions & information on local wildlife. There are a wealth of different creatures to be found there. Desert Bighorn Sheep (NV's State Animal) are prevalent in the hills. There are a variety of lizards, birds & small animals also hiding out. The best seasons for hiking in Red Rock are Spring & Autumn. Summer gets well over 100 degrees, while Winter brings snow & ice to some of the popular trails. If you're lucky enough to be visiting on a rainy day, take the short (1/2 mile roundtrip) hike to Lost Creek Waterfall for same great photo opportunities!!!
